It really depends a lot on the occasion. We have a LOT of dress like your doll stuff. Both the Pleasant Company originals, and ones made for us by excellent seamstresses. (Felicity's meet dress and spring dress, 2 AMAZING other colonial dresses (made by someone on this board ), Josefina's riding outfit complete with vest/hat, 1 other Spanish colonial dress, Kirsten's school dress, Addy's Christmas dress, a today Christmas outfit)

My dd's are 8 and 12 (soon to be 13 ). Both of them LOVE to dress like their dolls at home. In public, halloween is a great excuse, as was Colonial Williamsburg, El Rancho de las Golondrinas, and going to AG Place (although they changed in the dressing room). We occasionally have American Girl parties. The outfits go over bigtime for those. The girls will even wear the Christmas dresses to church (w/o the dolls).

I'm thinking about the Chocolate Cherry outfit for my 8yr old. I think she'd LOVE it!

    LOL, Taffy!!!!!

My DDs love dressing like their dolls. We have a bunch of matching outfits, mostly Bitty for my 3 year old, though. The AG historical outfits get pretty pricey on eBay, so I have passed on those. Michele (Michigan Mom) made my daughters beautiful matching historical dresses for Christmas this year. Thank you, Michele!

I will also be getting the matching CCC outfits for DDs this year, too. My 3 year old is absolutely crazy about faux animal fur. My 9 year old has become a bit shy lately about the matching thing, unless it is for a very special occasion. So if anything, the matching AGT outfits are probably the way to go with my 9 year old since the AGT outfits (and Marisol's) are still deemed "cool".

By the way, I even bought the Coconut slippers for myself. So DD, me and the dolls can wear them. They are very swishy and plush - sort of hard to walk in, but fun never the less.

this thread brings back memories. Between the ages of 8-10, I liked to dress like my doll. My mom sewed me an outfit that matched Kirsten's meet outfit and also Kirsten's summer outfit. I used to visit historical homes with my mom or grandma and wear these outfits and bring my Kirsten with me. I also had Felicity's night shift from AG.
